Violence In South East Not Targeted At Herdsmen – Miyetti Allah

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association Of Nigeria (MACBAN) has distance itself from the threat by a Fulani Jihadist group to attack Delta State.

Naija News earlier reported that the group had issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa to rescind the open grazing ban or face an attack.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Secretary-General of MACBAN, Usman Baba-Ngelzerma, such a statement by faceless individuals is only meant to create mischief.

He said MACBAN is a responsible association with eminent personalities like the Sultan of Sokoto as its patron and as such will never do anything to jeopardise the peace of the country.

Baba-Ngelzerma also distanced MACBAN from a 72-hour ultimatum issued to Delta state to reverse its laws on open grazing.

The MACBAN leader said the position of the association on open grazing still remains.

He urged the Northern Governors to ensure the recovery of all grazing routes in the country, adding that Fulani herders have equal rights with all Nigerians and cannot be treated as second-class citizens.

In a related development, the leadership of Fulani in the state has distanced themselves from the purported letter threatening to attack the state.

Speaking on Monday in Asaba, the leaders of the group in the state, Alhaji Abubakar Haruna, the Fulani Coordinator Delta State, Useni Haruna, the Sarki of Asaba, the Chairman, Miyetti Allah in the state, Musa Mohammed, said they were not part of the threat.
