After collecting N5 million, 100 handsets, and five Bajaj motorcycles as ransom, bandits have released the wives of the District Head of Zungeru in Niger State, Mallam Mustapha Madaki.

Naija News understands that the bandits stormed Zungeru town in Wushishi Local Government Area of the state to abduct the District Head and his two wives from their home.

The gunmen had stormed the town with their motorcycles and shot into the air before kidnapping Madaki and his wives without any resistance from anybody.

According to The Nation, the two women were released after the demands of the bandits were met by the community.

It was learned that the two wives have been admitted to a medical centre for treatment and observation.

However, the District Head is yet to regain freedom as the abductors are demanding more money for his ransom.

According to a community leader, the amount being demanded is being kept secret by members of the community who are currently involved in the negotiation.

He said that the community raised N5 million out of the N10 million initially demanded as ransom by the abductors.

The leader added that negotiation is still ongoing to secure the release of the District Head.
