Buhari Flags Off Commencement Of Construction Work On NLNG Train 7

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday morning flagged off the commencement of construction work on the NLNG train 7.

Naija News reports that NLNG stands for Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas.

The Train 7 project will add around 8 million tonnes per year of LNG to NLNG, taking the total to around 30mn tpy.

The Nigeria LNG Limited is jointly owned in the following proportions: Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) owns 49%, Shell Gas B.V. owns 25.6%, Total LNG Nigeria Ltd owns 15% and Eni International owns 10.4%.

While flagging off the commencement of construction work on NLNG Train 7 via a video conference, President Buhari stated that the focus of this administration is to boost the development of Nigeria’s abundant gas resources, strengthen the gas value chain, develop the much-needed infrastructure and enhance safe operations in the sector as outlined in the National Gas Policy of 2017.

“I hereby urge the board of directors, management and staff, host communities, the Rivers State government and agencies of federal government to continue to collaborate to ensure completion and commissioning of the Train 7 project safely and on time, so work on Train 8 can start,” the president said.

“Through a decade of gas initiative which I recently launched, we will transform Nigeria into a natural gas and Industrial nation with gas playing the key role and revenue earner,” he added.

The construction of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas train 7 project is located in Bonny, Rivers State.

Present at the occasion are the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Minister of State for Petroleum, Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Managing Director of the NLNG, Chairman, Board of the NLNG among others.
