The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed the date the 2022 Osun gubernatorial election will hold.

Naija News reports that the electoral commission fixed Saturday 16th of July, 2022, for the election.

This information was contained in a timetable released by INEC and signed by its Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony.

In the timetable dated 10th July 2021, the schedule of activities for the election would start from the publishing of Notice of Election on 1st February 2022.

With the release of the timetable, Nigeria’s main political parties – the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) – would be able to start preparations for the election.

Recall that Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the APC had defeated Senator Ademola Adeleke of the PDPin the September 22, 2018 governorship election.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of South West Agenda for 2023, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, has stated that nothing will stop Bola Tinubu from clinching the presidential ticket of the APC.

He stated this while speaking in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday during the official launching of the South West Agenda (SWAGA) 2023, a political platform backing the presidential ambition of Tinubu.

Adeyeye, a former Minister of Works, stated that Bola Tinubu would grab the APC ticket of the ruling party zone it to the South in 2023.

According to him, the former Lagos State governor remains the best and the right man to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari based on his experience and political networks.

He also warned APC leaders to respect the zoning of presidency to the South in 2023, as a mark of respect for the silent agreement within the party at inception in 2013.
