1. Prophet TB Joshua Is Dead

Frontline Nigerian televangelist and founder of the Synagogue Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua (alias TB Joshua) has died.

It was gathered that TB Joshua, 57, died in Lagos on Saturday evening after concluding a programme at his church in Ikotun.

The death has also been confirmed by the church.

The church, however, in a statement released on Sunday disclosed that he died after a programme on Saturday.

2. Onion Dealers Will Cut Off Supply To Southern Nigeria From Monday

The Association of Onion Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria (OPMAN) has said it will cut supply to all parts of southern Nigeria from Monday if governments do not respond to the group’s demands.

According to Daily Trust, one of the demands of OPMAN is that members of the organization who have lost as a result of ethnic and religious violence in the South must be compensated accordingly.

Others include restoring law and order in these areas and conducting a thorough investigation to find out the causes of these attacks on their members.

OPMAN also called on communities to respect the constitutional rights of northern entrepreneurs in their states.

3. 2023: Some PDP Governors Will Switch To APC Soon – Ganduje

The Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has said that the ruling party has begun preparations to receive some PDP governors in the run-up to the 2023 general elections.

Recall that Naija News recently reported that Cross Rivers Governor Ben Ayade has switched from the PDP to the APC .

With this is speculation Zamfara state governor, Bello Matawalle, might return APC at any time, Naija News understands.

Ganduje made the remarks at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja during a courtesy visit by the APC Registration Committee chaired by Farouk Adamu Aliyu.

4. Npower Begins Confirmation Of Successful Batch C Applicants

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development has commenced the confirmation of successful Npower Batch C stream one applicants.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Bashir Alkali in a statement on Sunday, announced that the confirmation is the next phase in the recruitment exercise for the Npower batch C applicants.

The statement noted that the next phase involves the verification of email addresses by applicants explaining that shortlisted applicants are to check their respective email addresses for confirmation and further information.

5. IPOB: Police Foil Fresh Attack On Imo Police Headquarters

One gunman has been killed as operatives of the Nigeria Police repelled an attack on the police headquarters in Imo State by hoodlums on Sunday morning.

Recall that suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had on April 5th attacked the Imo police headquarters and the Nigerian Prison Service in Owerri, freeing 1844 inmates.

In a statement on Sunday Police Public Relations Officer in the State, SP Bala Elkana said the hoodlums attacked the facilities in the early hours of Sunday but met stiff resistance by operatives.

6. Residents Flee As Fulani Herdsmen Attack Oyo Community, Kill 10

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani Herdsmen have attacked Igangan community, in the Ibarapa North area of Oyo state killing no fewer than 10 residents.

It was gathered that the Fulani herdsmen attacked the Oyo community at around 11pm on Saturday, leaving the village early Sunday morning.

A source in the community identified two of the people killed as Lekan and Ajani, while a resident of Ayete who is close to the family of the deceased farmers, Olalekan Etu disclosed that hunters were already on their way to track down the Fulani killers.

7. South-West Governors React To Igangan Attack

The South-West Governors Forum has condemned the attack by some suspected herdsmen on the people of Igangan, Oyo State on Saturday.

Naija News had reported that gunmen suspected to be Fulani Herdsmen attacked the community killing no fewer than 10 residents.

It was gathered that the Fulani herdsmen attacked the Oyo community at around 11pm on Saturday, leaving the village early Sunday morning.

However, a statement on Sunday, signed by the Chairman of the forum and Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, described the incident as horrendous, callous, and highly provocative.

The governor said all well-meaning Nigerians must condemn the act in the strongest term possible, adding that the attack is an assault on decency and communal harmony.

8. Gunmen Attack House Of Imo Commissioner, Burn Down The Building

The country home of the Imo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Declan Emelumba has been attacked and burnt by unknown gunmen.

It was gathered that the attack on the house located in Oru East Local Government Area took place around 1am on Sunday.

According to reports, the assailants destroye all property found in the building and then set it on fire.

They were said to have broken down the gate of the house to gain entrance and operated unhindered.

9. 2023: Atiku, Soludo Joint Presidential Campaign Posters Flood Abuja

The 2023 presidential campaign posters bearing the images of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and that of ex-CBN Governor, Prof Charles Soludo have flooded Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

The posters which had captions declaring the candidacy of Atiku as a presidential candidate and Soludo as his running mate were seen in various strategic locations in Abuja during the weekend.

The posters were seen in Garki, Maitama, Wuse area, and the Airport Road in Abuja.

Those behind the posters claim the candidates will rescue Nigeria and bring unity.

Naija News reports Atiku belongs to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while Soludo is a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) but the posters claim a great alliance between the PDP and APGA.

10. Ozekhome Hits FG Over Prosecution Of Twitter Ban Violators

Popular Nigerian lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) has condemned the decision of the federal government to prosecute persons who violate the ban on the use of Twitter.
Naija News had reported that the government had suspended the operations of the micro-blogging site after it pulled down a tweet of President Muhammadu Buhari.

However, many Nigerians have been able to access Twitter by using the Virtual Personal Network (VPN).

Immediately, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, ordered the prosecution of anyone violating the ban on Twitter.

However, in a statement on Sunday, Ozekhome said the federal government should be ready to imprison many Nigerians.

The Senior Advocate of Nigeria added that using Twitter isn’t a crime and the decision of the government was a knee-jerk reaction.
