Igbos Are Not Like Those Killing My People - Ortom

The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, on Wednesday condemned the assassination of his Senior Special Assistant on Security, retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, Christopher Dega.

The Peoples Democratic Party chieftain described the death of Dega as a huge loss to his administration.

It will be recalled Naija News earlier reported the Governor’s aide was shot in the chest multiple times by gunmen on Tuesday in Jos, the Plateau State capital.

Ortom while addressing newsmen at Benue Peoples House, Makurdi, on Wednesday, noted that his security aide who happens to be a retired AIG was very active even in retirement.

The Benue state government further stated that it is painful that Dega was killed in a gruesome manner.

Retired AIG Dega served with me here and this is someone who has retired but is not tired and was very active. So for him to have been murdered in the manner they did, a retired AIG gunned down. This is very sad.”

He charged security operatives to find the killers of his aide.

He sympathized with the family, friends and former colleagues of the deceased and prayed to God to grant him eternal rest.

He said it was painful that he was gunned down in such a gruesome manner.
