The Enugu Police Command has launched a full-scale manhunt of unknown gunmen who killed an unidentified man along the Ebeano Tunnel road on Sunday evening.

A video circulating online shows the armed men pulling the man from his SUV and shooting him dead, leaving him on the road and carting away his vehicle.

A statement released by the spokesperson of the command, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, said the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu, has ordered the arrest of the killers.

Ndukwe added that the armed assailants trailed and shot dead the man driving in a Mercedes Benz Jeep, which they carted away at about 5pm.

He said the victim, whose true identity is yet to be known, was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by doctors on duty and deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.

Ndukwe said the state Commissioner of police has vowed that no stone would be left unturned in fishing out perpetrators of the heinous crime.

The police boss has also called on residents of the State to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and assist the Police with useful information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of the assailants.
