Many people killed and several others injured during an attack by bandits on Beri community in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State.

Speaking to Naija News on Monday, an eyewitness said the bandits invaded the community in a truck in the early hours of Monday and shooting sporadically in the air.

He added that the bandits then proceeded to attack a police station in the town and set it ablaze, before raiding shops, and invading homes.

It was, however, noted that the bandits engaged security agents in a gun duel, leading to the death of some of the bandits.

Meanwhile, no fewer than two hundred Islamiyya (Arabic) school students have been kidnapped by heavily armed men in Tegina, in the Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.

This news platform reports that one person was shot dead while another lays critically injured during the attack which happened on Sunday evening, at about 4:30 pm.

A resident who gave his name as Zayyad Mohammed confirmed to newsmen on a phone conversation that the Salihu Tanko Islamiyya school where the incident took place, was built by a retired Immigration Officer.

However, the details of the operation by the gun-wielding men are still sketchy at the time this report was filed.
