Why Medical Panel Should Examine Buhari's Mental State - Ezekwesili

Former Minister of Education and co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) movement, Oby Ezekwesili has expressed concerns about the growing waves of attacks in the southeast.

She also lamented the increasing wave of general insecurity across the country, calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to sit up and take action.

Ezekwesili in a series of tweets on Monday morning also blamed the security agencies for the deplorable state of security across the nation.

She noted that the government and security agencies must change strategies in order to resolve the growing challenges.

She tweeted; “Something is tragically wrong in the South East operations by our security establishment @HQNigerianArmy and @PoliceNG.”

“@NGRPresident must step in now and firmly take command of the operations in the South East, especially in Owerri where lives are being randomly wasted. NOW!”

“I have consistently called attention of the @NGRPresident as Commander-in-Chief of the @HQNigerianArmy and @PoliceNG and DSS to the visibly ineffectual policing and military strategy in the South East.”

“Whatever happened to the Intelligence part of law, order, and security?”

“@NGRPresident, we cannot have the situation in the South East degenerate into anarchy.”

“It does not bode well for the country that a region which was peaceful until a few months ago suddenly turned chaotic because of ineffectual intelligence, policing, and military operations.”

In another development, the Presidency has said that Boko Haram terrorists have disappeared and merged into a bigger threat, which is the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP).

Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu, stated this while speaking on Channels Television’s ‘Sunday Politics’ programme.

Shehu asserted that ISWAP which is now a bigger threat is being funded by the remnants of the Libyan Army in collaboration with Iraq and Iran.
