Nigerian Air Force Set To Investigate Plane Crashes

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Tuesday announced the setting up of a committee to investigate incessant crashes involving its aircraft.

Naija News reports that three planes belonging to the Nigerian Air Force had crashed within three months.

The new committee set up by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, comprises serving and retired officers.

This was made known in a statement on Tuesday by the spokesperson of NAF, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet.

According to Gabkwet, the committee members are to conduct a safety audit of all NAF operational and engineering units.

He stated that Air Marshal Amao directed the committee to submit its report on or before 18th June, 2021.

Gabkwet added that the committee will be chaired by the Deputy Theatre Commander, Operation HADIN KAI, Air Vice Marshal Abraham Adole.

”The Committee is to, among other terms of reference, analyse safety reports from operational and engineering units, conduct safety evaluation of NAF units and recommend measures to enhance safety of operations in the units.

”The Committee is also to interact with unit operational and technical personnel for views, observations and contributions on safety measures,” the statement read.
