Again, Gunmen Kidnap Catholic Priest In Imo Community

Residents of Saulawa town in Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State are in a state of panic after bandits killed 11 people and abducted several others.

Witnesses said the attackers also vowed to return to the Saulawa area.

An eyewitness told the BBC that the robbers stormed the town at 5 am shooting sporadically leaving 10 men and one woman dead.

A woman whose husband, eldest son and four other relatives were killed in the attack said she was “deeply saddened” to be left with seven children.

According to her, all the food they were going to eat was burnt during the attack – nothing, from home to property to even a big one, “she said.

In the town of Yar Katsina in Bunguudu Local Government Area, more than 70 people, including pregnant women and children, were abducted, along with a large number of livestock.

“The gunmen have taken over the Katsina market. They have been going around for almost a week saying there will be no farming.” said one of the victims.

He added that although they did not kill anyone during the attack, the attack targeted children, including infants and adults.

Even in Niger State, gunmen abducted 15 people and many animals over the weekend.

A resident of Kubudi, where the incident took place, said the attackers entered the area in the morning and took the people away.

Bandit and kidnapper attacks continue to escalate in parts of Nigeria despite claims by the government that it is trying to defeat all those who threaten the country’s security.
