Bandits abducted 14 people in Kabulo area of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday.
Daily Trust reports that initially 17 people were taken away by the bandits, including women, but three of the men escaped from their captors.
“They went away with 14 adults, women, and children from the house of a man called Shehu and his neighbor,” said Mohammed, who said he saw a military surveillance helicopter in the area.
He said the attack took place around 1:30 pm on Sunday night, which left many people in shock.
When contacted, Kaduna State Police Spokesperson, ASP Mohammed Jalige, did not respond until the report was compiled.
He and the Commissioner of Homeland Security, Samuel Aruwan, did not respond to a written message regarding the kidnappings.
But he issued a statement saying security operatives had rescued several people, including women, abducted in Najaja and Kerawa areas of Igabi Local Government Area.
He said security forces used a security helicopter to kill the militants and rescue the abducted people.
According to him, after their hideouts were discovered, the bandits retreated and left their captives behind.
He also thanked Governor Nasir El-Rufai for his efforts in thwarting kidnappings in Igabi Local Government Area.
