Social media users have reacted after a total of 201 students of the Covenant University (CU) Ota in Ogun State were on Friday awarded with First Class degrees for the 2019/2020 academic session.

According to Vice-chancellor, Prof. Abiodun Adebayo, disclosing this at the 15th convocation ceremony of the institution tagged, The Release of Eagles” on Friday, said that Miss Paula-Peace Onyinyechi, a graduate of Biochemistry Department, College of Sciences, emerged the best graduating student, with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.98.

The report has gotten a lot of tongue-wagging on the micro blogging platform. See comment below;

But govt uni professors think:

“A is for God,

B is for VC,

C is for me,

Fight for the rest”

Cruel Sadists.”

@OgbeniDipo wrote; ”Nothing wrong with 201 out of 1,664 Covenant University students graduating with a First Class degree. What is wrong is having 30% of a cohort graduating with a 2.2 & 60% graduating with a 3rd class degrees. The mentality of a lot of people have been messed up by the system.”

Papi Jay wrote; ‘‘Covenant University graduated more First Class than Second class. Meanwhile, UNILAG third class many pass their First Class.”
