'The Rain That Beat Okafor Will Still Beat Obinna' - Dino Melaye Warns Those Dumping PDP For APC

Former Kogi Central Senator, Dino Melaye has berated the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development over the approval of N30 million for the construction of a Friday mosque in Borno State.

Naija News had reported that the project approval was conveyed in a letter dated December 10, 2020, and signed by the Deputy Director of Procurement in ministry, Musa Musa.

The letter, which was addressed to the Managing Director of the contractor, El-Shukhur Multi-Buz Nig. Ltd mandated the contractor to complete the project within eight months.

However, in a statement on Thursday signed by its Director of Information, Theodore Ogaziechi, the ministry said it awarded the contract for the construction of a mosque for the benefit of livestock farmers displaced by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno state.

Ogaziechi said the project was implemented following a special request from the affected community through the Borno state government.

Reacting to the development via his Twitter page on Thursday, Melaye condemned the ministry over the approval of the huge sum for the construction of a mosque.

The PDP chieftain asked if the government is now committed to good governance or religious engagements.

“What! Despite all the challenges facing food security, building a mosque is the Federal Ministry of Agriculture’s priority! To pray for rain or what? How did we get here for Heaven sake? What has the government got to do with churches or mosques?” he wrote.
