Three Dead, Many Injured As Explosion Rocks Abuja market

Reports have emerged on Friday of another gas explosion at the premises of the CSCC construction yard, at the Onikoko area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Naija News reports that this is coming barely 24 hours after explosion rocked the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in the state capital.

According to reports, the latest explosion left two people seriously injured and needing medical attention at a nearby hospital.

It was gathered that the explosion which was caused by a filled gas cylinder exploded when not in use, affecting many buildings along the Onikoko-Adigbe axis, vehicles and a teacher in a classroom at St. Louis College, Abeokuta.

Recall that on Thursday two people were confimed dead in an explosion at the Olusegun Obasanjo presidential library.

It was gathered that the explosion occurred around 11:23 am at the Marque event centre within the premises of the library.

According to witnesses, the explosion was triggered when technicians were topping up gas into the Air Conditioner at the event centre.

Naija News reports that today’s explosion is the fifth number of explosions recorded in the city of Abeokuta.

No fewer than six persons, including an infant, died in three different gas explosions in Abeokuta from those incidents.

It will be recalled that the Conference Hotel in Abeokuta owned by a former Governor, Gbenga Daniel was also hit by an explosion, killing two and injuring three others.

The two occurrences of the gas explosion last week claimed the lives of an infant and three others.
