The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has arrested the former Governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed.

It was gathered that the immediate Governor of Kwara State has been under interrogation for the past seven hours at the EFCC headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, over the alleged diversion of N9 billion by his administration.

A source disclosed that Ahmed arrived at the commission’s headquarter around 10 am on Monday, following an invitation by the anti-graft agency.

The source said, “Ahmed has been in the interrogation room writing statements for the past seven hours in connection to the N9billion diverted from the coffers of Kwara state government during his tenure as governor of Kwara state between 2011 and 2019, and his time as commissioner for finance in the administration of Bukola Saraki, the former senate president.”

The spokesman of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren who confirmed the development noted that the former governor honoured the invitation.
