APC Must Unite Or…. Former National Chairmen Warn Party

Two former National Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole have warned that disunity in the party may have negative consequences.

Speaking specifically about the Edo State chapter of the party, the duo urged all members of the party to put the past behind them and work together to move the party forward.

They spoke on Saturday in Benin, the Edo State capital during the stakeholders meeting of the party.

In his own words, Oyegun noted that both leaders and members of the party have to work for the party’s success, drop personal ambitions and work for a common goal.

“I am APC, I belong to APC body and soul. Let us close ranks, the future of our party is bright.

“Every member of the party including party leaders have a contribution to make for the improvement and success of the party. No individual can be greater than the party,” he said.

On his part, Oshiomhole also noted that both leaders and members must ensure that the interest of the party prevails over personal interest if they are to remain relevant in the mind of the people and win their votes.

Both former national chairmen however commended the State Caretaker Committee of the party, led by retired Col David Imuse for working tirelessly to reposition the party.

Imuse in his own address noted that the APC is not discouraged as it currently has to play the role of opposition in Edo State, noting that the party will come back stronger.

“Right now, the APC has a very credible and reliable database of its members, in every unit across the entire country. Our party is now a stronger and more united party as a result of the membership registration exercise,” he said.

Others who were also present at the stakeholders meeting include: Prince Malik Afegbua; the former governor of Edo State, Professor Oserheimhen Osunbor, and his erstwhile deputy, Chief Lucky Imasuen; a former deputy governor, Dr Pius Odubu; as well as some members of the National Assembly and many others.

Meanwhile, the Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday, May 7 received to its camp five new defectors from the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Naija News understands that the defectors including five ward chairmen and their supporters joined the opposition party in the Makurdi Local Government Area of the state.

The defection ceremony held at the LGEA Primary School, Wurukum, Makurdi, was witnessed by top government officials and PDP chieftains across the state.
