Mama Taraba’s Remains To Arrive Nigeria Sunday – Aide Reveals

All arrangement for the funeral of former lawmaker and Minister of Women Affairs, Senator Aisha Jumai Alhassan, better known as Mama Taraba have been concluded, Naija News reports.

An aide to the late female politician, Bala Muhammed, confirmed to newsmen on Saturday that the corpse of late Alhassan will arrive in Jalingo on Sunday for burial.

Naija News had reported that the former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2015 general election, Mama Taraba died on Friday at a hospital in Cairo, Egypt.

Fellow politicians, family and friends including dignitaries across the states have been sending their condolences to the bereaved family. The state governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku had earlier led other prominent Tarabans in paying tributes to Mama Taraba since the news of her death broke the internet.

Among such persons is the former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Senator Joel Danlami Ikenya. While describing her as “an accomplished civil servant, astute politician and patriot” he was also of the view that “she was compassionate, bold, loyal and deeply committed to a better Nigeria.”

“Gone but not forgotten ” the late politician, as made known by Ikenya, was a highly principled and peaceful individual whose views were widely respected in many circles.”

Aligning his weight to that of Ishaku, her death, he said “is a huge loss to Nigeria and the people of the State adding that ” her ideas and vision for a United Taraba will be pursued with unexplainable energy.”

Mama Taraba’s funeral according to the statement by her former aide will take place at the palace of the Emir of Muri, Alhaji Abbas Tafida. The funeral service has been scheduled for 5 pm, Muhammed confirmed.
