Buhari's Former Minister ‘Mama Taraba’ Decamps To PDP

Former Minister of Women Affairs, Jummai Alhassan, better known as Mama Taraba, has reportedly died.

The report of Mama Taraba’s death was confirmed to newsmen on Friday by one of her former aides, Naija News reports.

The PUNCH reports that Mama Tarab died on Friday, May 7 at the age of 61 in Cairo, Egypt. The source who pleaded anonymity while confirming the report to newsmen on the telephone, said “she died in a hospital today in Cairo. We will miss her.”

Naija News understands that the deceased had served also as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from Taraba North Senatorial District. Alhassan had also contested for the Taraba State governorship seat in 2015 under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

She also contested for the same seat on the platform of the United Democratic Party in the 2019 general elections after resigning as a minister in the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) on July 27, 2018.
