Sanwo-Olu Expresses Sadness Over Adeboye’s Death

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed sadness over the death of Pastor Dare Adeboye, son of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye.

Naija News had earlier reported that the 42-year-old cleric died in his sleep on Wednesday in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, where he was based with his family.

Expressing his heartfelt sympathies, Sanwo-Olu issued a statement on Thursday through his Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile.

In the statement, the governor urged the family of the deceased, friends, associates, and entire members of RCCG to take the death in good faith.

He said, “No doubt the death of a loved one is usually painful as it is irreparable but we must always take solace in God especially if the deceased had lived a good life, just like the late pastor Dare Adeboye.

“The pastoral and wise counsel of Pastor D as he was fondly called will be sorely missed by his family and the entire members of RCCG, especially in Eket, Akwa Ibom, where he played active roles as a cleric before he passed on.

“I sympathise with Pastor Enoch Adeboye, his wife, siblings and widow of the deceased and the entire members of RCCG. I pray that God will grant the late Pastor Dare Adeboye eternal rest and grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”

Dare was born on June 9th, 1978, and would have clocked 43 next month.

Meanwhile, armed men on Wednesday night abducted an unknown number of students of Abia University, state officials stated.

The armed men abducted the students while travelling on a bus along Okigwe-Uturu Road.

The commissioner for information in the state, John Kalu, confirmed in a statement on Thursday.

“Preliminary information available to us indicates that the students were moving in a minivan from Okigwe to Uturu between 7pm – 8pm when they ran into the armed gang who marched them into the nearby forest along with other yet-to-be-identified travellers.

“Two of the students managed to escape from the hoodlums while others are still being held at a yet-to-be-identified location.

“We are working with the government of Imo State and relevant security agencies in both states to ensure the rescue of the abducted students and others.

“Members of the public and ABSU community are advised to remain calm as we will spare no resource in ensuring the safety of the victims.

“No criminal operating within our environment will be allowed to escape justice as we take the job of protecting lives and property of Abians and visitors to the State very seriously.”
