Atiku Speaks On Release Of Kaduna Varsity Students

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the release of the 27 remaining students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation Afaka in Kaduna State.

In a tweet via his Twitter handle on Wednesday evening, Atiku rejoiced with the families of the freed students after spending 55 days in captivity.

As earlier reported by Naija News, the twenty-seven students of Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna State, abducted by bandits have been released.

The development was confirmed by one of the people who received the students.

The source noted that the release of the student was facilitated by Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi dialogue committee with support from former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Reacting to the release of the students, Atiku called for necessary physical, psychological care and support for the released students.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain also prayed for the release of the abducted Greenfield University students, who are still being held by bandits.

Atiku wrote, “I rejoice with the families and friends of the 27 students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, near Kaduna, following their release from captivity. Congratulations to all those who made their freedom possible.

“Similarly, it is my prayer and hope that students of Greenfield University, also in Kaduna and all others in captivity in different parts of the country will be freed from abduction.”

Meanwhile, the abducted students of Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Afaka, Kaduna State, who were released on Wednesday have arrived the state police command.

The twenty-seven students, who were escorted by security agents, arrived in two 18 seater Hiace busses and an ambulance.

Most of the students appeared weak and could barely walk, as one of the female students was carried by a security agent in mufti.

Some of the students were spotted in their night wares while others dressed half naked.

Newsmen were hindered from taking shots of the students as they were led into the conference hall of the police command.
