Corps Members Won’t Be Posted To Areas With Security Challenges – NYSC

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Shuaibu Ibrahim has promised that corps members won’t be posted to locations with volatile cases of insecurity.

This is as the NYSC boss declared that the welfare of corps members is always of ultimate concern to the corps management.

Ibrahim made the submission on Tuesday during the opening ceremony of the 2021 batch ‘A’ pre-orientation workshop in Karu, Nasarawa state.

He said under him, the NYSC will continue to make the welfare of corps members and staff a priority.

“As the welfare and safety of Corps members and Staff is part of the policy thrust of my administration, we shall continue to work closely with relevant stakeholders to evolve strategies for the protection of all corps members and the entire camp community during the orientation course,” he said.

Ibrahim explained that the workshop is designed to synergize on how to make camp experience as well as the entire service time more result oriented even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We worked closely with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and state ministries of health in this regard,” he said.

“However, we would use the opportunity of the workshop too, among other things, harness our experiences and explore the prospect of increasing camp capacity, without losing sight of the need to adhere strictly to COVID -19 safety protocols, as we learn to operate optimally under the “new normal.”

In other news, the lawmaker representing Imo West Senatorial District, Rochas Okorocha, on Tuesday said nobody is defending President Muhammadu Buhari at the time the country is going through economic and security challenges.

The former Governor of Imo State stated this while playing host to the APC Progressives Minds from Cross River state, at the Unity House in Abuja.

He further stated that no one has been speaking up in support of the President among his appointees or close aides.
