Buhari Sends Message To Lawan Over Mother’s Death

The presidency on Tuesday promised that the kidnapped Greenfield University students from Kaduna State will be rescued.

This is as the government also described the killing of some of the abducted students as tragic loss of innocent lives.

The declaration by the presidency was contained in a Twitter statement on Tuesday evening.

The statement noted that the federal government shares the anguish of the affected parents and would continue to work with the military and the Kaduna State government to end the saga.

The statement reads: “We deeply share the anguish of the parents of the abducted Greenfield University students. The Federal Government through the military & intelligence agencies is working to support the Kaduna State Govt to bring this tragic saga to an end with no further loss of innocent life.”

“We will ensure that good triumphs over evil, & that all of the bandits & criminals terrorizing innocent lives & communities are brought to book. This is a time for all Nigerians to unite, regardless of religion, ethnicity or partisan affiliation—against a common, dastardly enemy.”

Meanwhile, another one of the abducted students of Greenfield University in Kaduna State has been released by the bandits, Naija News reports.

Confirming the release of her son to Channels Television, on Tuesday, the mother of the student, Lauritta Attahiru said her son was released on Saturday.

She however refused to give details of how her son was released and whether a ransom was paid or not.

This is as the controversial Islamic cleric, Ahmad Gumi, on Tuesday disclosed that the students of Greenfield University were abducted by Boko Haram and not bandits.

Gumi, in an interview with AIT on Tuesday said Boko Haram members were behind the abduction.

When asked by the reporter if he indeed mentioned that Boko Haram were behind the abduction, Sheik Gumi said yes.
