Troops Kill Boko Haram Top Commander, Lose 5 Soldiers In Borno

A top commander of the Boko Haram faction has been reportedly killed by troops of the Nigerian Army in Borno State.

Reports emerging revealed that the terrorist commander was killed during a face-off with the troops in Rann of Kala Balge Local Government Area of the state during the weekend.

Naija News understands that Abatcha was killed during the clash which happened on Saturday at Rann, the headquarters of KalaBalge LGA, 350km from Maiduguri and bordered the Chad Republic.

Residents of the communities told newsmen that five soldiers were killed during the attack. “We saw the soldiers carrying corpses of five fallen colleagues after the encounter on Saturday,” one of the leaders of the community using Orange network informed newsmen in Maiduguri.

He alleged that many of the insurgents also died in the gun-duel that lasted several hours.

“The militants withdrew after ”Abatcha’ a top commander was hit, ” He added.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Monday said it is yet to conclude investigation into the alleged killing of some soldiers of the Nigerian Army by its airstrikes.

It will be recalled as previously reported by Naija News that a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jet reportedly made a mistake, attacking some ground troops on their way to the town of Mainok.

The plane was intended to respond against Boko Haram terrorists loyal to the Islamic State of West Africa Providence (ISWAP) but mistakenly attacked military forces heading to Mainok town, 55 kilometres to Maiduguri, Naija News reports.
