Kidnappers have released an Ibadan-based hotelier, Oyedokun Oyeniyi, his wife, Busayo; and seven other members of their family who were recently abducted.

Confirming the release of the victims, Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Adewale Osifeso, said that the nine captives were released on Tuesday.

He told The PUNCH: “Yes, they have been released, please.”

Naija News had reported that the victims were kidnapped at a hotel in Ajaawa, near Ogbomoso town in Oyo State as the family prepared for a burial ceremony last Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has condemned the recent killings in the state by suspected herdsmen.

Ortom while reacting to the attack on Abegana village, disclosed that 70 people have lost their lives to attacks in Makurdi, Guma and Gwer West local government areas.

The Benue State Governor further stated that the attack on the IDP camp in Abegana, where seven persons were killed, should make President Muhammadu Buhari convey security summit to discuss insecurity in the country.

Ortom said, “We are being overstretched and the people are fed up. We all cast our votes for President Buhari. He must not continue to be aloof. He must tell us where we are going in this country. The body language of the President shows that he is the President of the Fulani people.”
