The state of West Virginia will offer young people a reward of US100 (an equivalent of ₦40,000) if they agree to be vaccinated against COVID-9.

According to a report on the West Virginia state website, the state will offer rewards to 16-35-year-olds who take the COVID-19 vaccine.

The state governor, Jim Justice, said that out of concern over the way young people are turning their backs on immunization, they made the decision because of the important role that youths can play in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.

In addition, he said, the money would be given to those who have already been vaccinated in the age group of 16 to 35 years.

West Virginia is one of the few states in the United States that has planned to vaccinate more people, but the situation has deteriorated in the recent past due to the reluctance of young people.

According to the New York Times, West Virginia has the highest number of coronavirus infections in the United States.

Currently, 52 percent of the people in the state have been vaccinated once, said Governor Justice, expressing concern that another 40 percent may be reluctant to come for immunization.
