President Muhammadu Buhari met with Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State at the State House, Abuja, on Monday night.
Naija News reports that the President received a briefing from the Borno governor on the security situation in the epicenter of the Boko Haram insurgency.
Though the details of the meeting have not been revealed, it may not be unconnected to the resurgence of Boko Haram attacks in the state.
Activities of terrorist elements, including Boko Haram and the Islamic State, West African Province (ISWAP), have intensified in the Northeast region of the country recently.
On Sunday, more than 30 soldiers were reportedly lost to a terrorist invasion on a military base in Mainok town around 60 kilometres out of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
