Reno Omokri, an aide to former Nigeria President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has alleged why gunmen were able to attack and abduct students of the Federal University Makurdi without restriction.

Naija News had reported on Monday, April 26 that gunmen attacked the Federal University of Agriculture in Makurdi (FUAM), Benue State and kidnapped some students. The school management through a statement signed by Rosemary Waku, Director of Information, Protocol and Public Relations Unit (IPPR), confirmed that the incident occurred on Sunday night.

According to the institution’s PRO, the gunmen took an unspecified number of students away at gunpoint on campus after shooting sporadically.Reacting to the incident, Omokri in a post on his Twitter page said the varsity was easily attacked due to inadequate armed guards.

He pointed out that some private citizens have more than four police guards protecting them while varsities like FUAM do not have such numbers of security guards despite how large they are.

Omokri’s tweet read: “Last week, we saw a young private citizen with 4 armed policemen guards. This is the reason who our security forces are not able to safeguard our schools. The whole of Federal University Makurdi doesn’t have 4 armed guards. That is why gunmen abducted their students.
