Unknown gunmen have kidnapped a hotelier, Olukunle Oyedokun, and his nursing wife, Juliana, at a hotel in Ajoowa, Ogo Oluwa Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Naija News reports that the gunmen also abducted the couple’s infant, children, five relatives, and a guest. According to reports, two other guests escaped the kidnap.

This newspaper gathered that Oyedokun and other relatives were whisked away around 10.30 p.m. on Saturday while preparing for a family burial ceremony coming up this weekend.

A senior police officer in the local government, however, confirmed the incident but said the family of the victims gave conflicting figures of victims.

However, family sources have said that the kidnappers have asked for N15 million. After a long appeal, the ransom is said to have been reduced to N2.5 million.

Meanwhile, some students of the Federal University of Agriculture in Makurdi (FUAM), the Benue State capital, have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

In a statement on Monday by the Director of Information, Protocol and Public Relations Unit (IPPR), Rosemary Waku, the school management confirmed that the incident occurred on Sunday night.

According to the institution’s PRO, the gunmen took an unspecified number of students away at gunpoint on campus after shooting sporadically.

“The University has reported the incident to the police and all relevant security agencies.

“The University has not heard anything from the students or their captors since the unfortunate incidence took place.”

Confirming the incident, state Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene Sewuese, said three students of the institution were kidnapped on their university campus.

She added that the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command has ordered a full-scale investigation into the incident.
