Many persons were reportedly stepped upon during the weekend while struggling to get a share of Ramadan gift from a businessman in Katsina State.

Naija News learnt that at least one person died while five others sustained degrees of injuries during the event which happened on Saturday evening, April 24.

It was gathered that the compaction started after beggars from the state and the neighbouring Niger Republic stormed the house of the Katsina based businessman to collect a portion of food and money gift.

However, as a result of the impatience of the overzealous beggars who could not wait for their turn, they began to fall upon each other in the struggle, leading to the casualty recorded. Naija News understands that security sources confirmed the incident to The PUNCH on Sunday.

When contacted on the development on Sunday, the spokesman for the Katsina State Police Command, Gambo Isah, said he would not be able to respond to the incident yet as at the time.

A senior police officer who pleaded for anonymity, however, confirmed the incident. He said: “Yes, it’s true but we have taken the necessary precautions to avert a recurrence.”

Meanwhile, two persons have been apprehended with human skulls by the Kaduna State Command of the Nigeria Police Force.
Naija News understands that the suspected ritualists were nabbed with human skulls at a popular Muslim cemetery in the state.
