Terrorists Have Taken Over Nigeria, Yoruba Nation Will Be Achieved Before December - Akintoye

The Ilana Omo Oodua, an umbrella body of Yoruba groups, has said it will continue to be law abiding in its ongoing clamour for self determination.

The leader, Prof Adebanji Akintoye, stated this in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Thursday to commend the police on their conduct during the last mega rally.

Professor Akintoye stated that the group is committed to conducting its affairs in a peaceful and orderly manner in the clamour for self-determination of Oduduwa Republic.

He said: “This is the way we of the Yoruba self-determination movement operate and will always operate, and it is our expectation as law abiding and peaceful citizens that Nigeria’s law enforcement agencies will continue to cooperate with us and make it possible to operate in the peaceful and law abiding manner as we are now universally known for.

“It will be remembered by all the people of Nigeria and by all the law enforcement authorities of the land that the Yoruba self determination movement has always professed its commitment to peaceful and law abiding processes in all its activities. Let it not be forgotten that we held a similar rally in support of Amotekun in our capital cities of Lagos, Abeokuta, Ibadan, Osogbo, Akure and Ado Ekiti on the same day and everything went peacefully and without any threat to peace.

“All the Yoruba self determination organisations and all other Yoruba citizens who participated in the Yoruba self-determination rally on the 17th day of April, 2021 in the great city of Ibadan, hereby express gratitude and commendation to the Commissioner of Police and all his/her officers for the professional manner in which the Oyo state Police command and other security agencies covered and protected that great Yoruba self-determination rally.”
