EFCC Belongs To All Nigerians And Is Not For Anybody – Bawa

Why EFCC Can’t Afford To Fail In Anti-Corruption War - Bawa

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa has declared that the anti-graft agency can’t fight corruption alone.

This is as he declared that EFCC belongs to all Nigerians and all stakeholders must join hands with the commission to fight corruption in the country.

Bawa made the submission on Monday when he hosted members of a civil society organization, Civil Society Coalition for Transparency and Good Governance, at the Commission’s headquarters, Abuja.

According to a statement dated April 19 and made available to Naija News by the EFCC media and publicity, Bawa urged everyone to join the fight against corruption as Nigeria is the only country we have.

In his words, “EFCC belongs to all Nigerians and it is not for anybody.

“We realized long ago that the work of the EFCC is not something that can be done alone. Civil Society Organizations and Individuals are all stakeholders, because Nigeria is the only country we have.”

He added that “the mandate of the Commission and what we stand for, which is ensuring good governance, is imbibed and the country is rid of corruption.

The Vice President of CSCTGG, Nse Victor Udeh while speaking during the visit, lamented that corruption is one of the major problems facing Nigeria as a country and all hands must be on deck to ensure the narrative is changed.

Meanwhile, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has said the only way to make schools safe is to kill all bandits and bombing the forests they are camping.

Naija News reports that the Kaduna governor stated this on Tuesday in Abuja at an ongoing conference on Financing Safe Schools in Nigeria.

He called on the Nigerian Air Force to destroy the forests where bandits have been using as hide-outs.
