Alleged Money Laundering: Court Fines Fani-Kayode, Threatens To Revoke His Bail

Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to the emergence of a new leader for the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC).

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain congratulated Otunba Wasiu Afolabi over his emergence as the OPC leader.

Naija News reports that Fani-Kayode made this known in a post on his Twitter handle on Monday.

According to the former minister, the new OPC leader was a member of his security team in 2005 when he served in the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Fani-Kayode wrote: “I congratulate Otunba Wasiu Afolabi on his emergence as leader of the OPC. Wasiu is a strong, focused, forthright & courageous man who I have known for 20 years.

“He was one of Dr. Fasheun’s most trusted lieutenants & in 2005 he was a member of my security team. I wish him well.”

Meanwhile, a former Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulraham Dambazau (retd.), has come under heavy criticism for comparing the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and OPC with Boko Haram.

The former Army Chief had said the proscribed IPOB and OPC shared similarities with the terrorist group, Boko Haram.

Speaking on Friday in Abuja at the inauguration of Army War College Nigeria Course 5/2021, Dambazau said that both the OPC and IPOB were making attempts to plunge the nation into an ethnic war.

But in a statement on Sunday, by its National Director of Information, Edeson Samuel, MASSOB described the statement credited to Dambazau as unguided, reckless, debasing, and unprofessional.

The group knocked the former minister for comparing an internationally accredited terrorist group with self-determination groups without condemning the atrocities of Fulani herdsmen.

It noted that Fulani herdsmen were the ones terrorising and destroying Nigeria, saying that the failure of the minister to condemn the activities of the herdsmen across the country showed conspiracy in the South.
