FG Clears Backlogs Payment Of NPower Batches A & B Beneficiaries

The Federal Government has revealed that it has cleared backlogs payment of 8,900 NPower Batches A & B Beneficiaries.

Naija News reports that NPower is overseen by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq.

This information was shared on Wednesday by NPVN INFO (NATIONWIDE), via their official Twitter handle. The statement read, “BACKLOGS PAYMENT! 8,900 N-POWER BATCHES A & B BENEFICIARIES have been cleared for payment of their 5 months arrears of their STIPENDS as the SMS has been sent to the eligible ones. It will be recalled that the Npower scheme is a social intervention scheme introduced in 2016 by President Muhammadu Buhari, as a two-year programme for graduate and non-graduate Nigerians between the ages of 18-35.

The beneficiaries enjoy N30, 000 monthly stipend, and devices during the duration of their stay in the scheme in exchange for services offered including teaching, agric extension services, health, etc.

Meanwhile, President Buhari has approved the conversion of the presidential task force (PTF) on COVID-19 to the presidential steering committee (PSC).

This was made known by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, during a media briefing on Tuesday.

He stated that President Buhari also extended the mandate of the PSC to December 31, 2021.

Mustapha said the PSC will now focus on ensuring effectiveness in the rollout of the vaccine and promoting policies that will result in the development of the country’s health sector.

“Mr. president has considered the report and has approved the following: That the PTF will transition to a presidential steering committee on COVID-19, effective from 1st April, 2021, with a modified mandate to reflect the non-emergent status of COVID-19 as a potentially long-term pandemic,” he said.
