Matawalle Reveals Number Of Bandits In The North
The Governor of Zamfara, Bello Matawalle, on Friday said there are about 30,000 bandits in the state and other northern states.
Matawalle in his statement said there are more than 100 bandits camps across the states, with each having no fewer than 300 members.
The Zamfara State Governor stated this through the Commissioner for information in the state, Ibrahim Magaji Dosara, at a news briefing in Kaduna on Friday.
He listed the states as follows Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Kaduna and Niger.
Matawalle further stated that the Nigeria Government does not have adequate troops to fight the bandits across the region.
He said there are less than 6000 troops operating across North-West states.
Meanwhile, fresh indications have emerged of a plot by Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that the ruling APC had on Thursday extended its membership registration and revalidation exercise for another two weeks.
