Police Breaks Silence On Attack On Soludo In Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command has reacted to the attack on the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Charles Soludo, on Wednesday.

The command in its reaction on Thursday noted that the governorship aspirant is safe.

Naija News had earlier reported that Soludo was attacked during an interactive session with youths in the Isuofia community in the Aguata Local Government Area of the state.

The unknown gunmen during the attack killed three of the security details attached to the former CBN governor.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Monday Kuryas, during an interview with Channels TV, said Soludo is safe.

He, however, disclosed that the Commissioner for Public Utilities in the state, Emeka Ezenwanne, was abducted by the gunmen.

Kuryas said, “The former CBN governor was holding a town hall meeting with the youths of his community called Isuofia in Aguata local government area of the state.”

“Suddenly, unknown gunmen attacked my men that were providing security for him. In the exchange of fire, three of my men were killed but the Professor is safe.”

“However, the Commissioner for Public Utilities, Engr Emeka Ezenwanne, was abducted in the process and my men are on the heels of the abductors.”

In a related development, the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 election, Peter Obi, has called on security agents to apprehend those who attacked the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Charles Soludo and killed three police attached to him.

Naija News had earlier reported that the saddened incident happened on Wednesday in Soludo’s home town, Isiofia, in the Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
