According to the statement, Buhari is also seeking the Nigerian Senate to confirm the appointment.

President Buhari’s request was contained in a letter to the Senate.

“President Muhammadu Buhari has written the Senate to confirm Justice Salisu Garba Abdullahi, who has been in an acting capacity, as the substantive Chief Judge of the High Court of Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

“The President made the request pursuant to Section 256 (1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

“In the letter, dated April 1, 2021, President Buhari urged the Senate to do the confirmation, ‘in the usual expeditious manner,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Buhari has called on Nigerians to remain united and not allow mischief-makers to divide the country.

He made this called in his Easter message tagged “President Buhari felicitates with Christians at Easter”.

The statement quoted Buhari as saying that, “We should not allow the antics of a few mischief mongers to fragment the unity and faith that the vast majority of citizens of this country cherish and believe in.”

“As I have said before, we are better and stronger as one nation under God.”

“I congratulate our brothers and sisters once again on this occasion and wish everyone a Happy Easter celebration.”
