Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has made a fresh appeal to popular Islamic cleric, Sheik Ahmad Gumi to help secure the release of the kidnapped Afaka students in Kaduna State.

He also begged Gumi to intervene and help secure the release of some RCCG evangelists who were also kidnapped.

It will be recalled that gunmen on the 11th of March, broke through the perimeter fence of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation in Kaduna State and abducted some students.

The abductors later released videos of the students in their captivity and demanded N500m for their release.

Also, gunmen suspected to be bandits abducted eight members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) evangelism team, Trinity Sanctuary, Kaduna.

Naija News reports that the gunmen had kidnapped them on Friday on their way for evangelism in the Southern Kaduna.

As at the time of filing this report, neither the students nor the RCCG evangelists have been rescued or released.

Meanwhile, earlier on Thursday, Gumi disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari’s shoot-on-sight order is hindering the release of the abducted students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization, Kaduna.

Naija News had earlier reported this month that the President directed security operatives in the country to shoot-on-sight any criminal carrying AK-47.

Gumi while speaking with Daily Trust noted that some bandits he met within the forest during his meetings have identified the leader of the gang responsible for the abduction of the students.

The cleric further stated that despite identifying the gang involved in the abduction of the student he has no access to them because of the President’s shoot-on-sight order.

He further stated that he met 80% of bandits leaders during his peace meeting in the forest.

Gumi added that the lack of encouragement from some government officials has hindered him from meeting all the leaders of the bandits’ gang to drop their arms.
