Goods Destroyed As Fire Razes Plateau Yam Market

A fire outbreak has occurred at the popular Namu Central Yam Market in Qua’anpan Local government Area, of Plateau State on Sunday night.

Naija News reports that are farmers and traders have been counting their losses after foodstuff and other valuables worth millions of naira were destroyed in the inferno.

As of the time of filing this report, the cause of the fire is yet to be known.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, some of the traders have urged the government at all levels to come to their aid and ensure that they recover from their losses in order to ensure food sustainability.

Reacting to the incident, Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial Zone, Professor Nora Dadu’ut, has sympathized with the traders and the entire Namu community over the sad incident.

The lawmaker prayed for the quick revival of the victims’ spirit so that they can continue their struggle.

She also called on the government and other charitable Nigerians to offer support for the victims in order to expedite their recovery from the tragedy.
