Zamfara: I Lost Election Because I Took Buhari Govt To Court On Naira Redesign - Matawalle

Four persons abducted by bandits in Zamfara State have been released.

The victims while speaking on the development noted that they were abducted at Boko community in Zurmi Local Government Area of the state.

They noted that they were released through the effort of the state government after spending 49 days in the bandits’ den.

The victims when questioned if the state government paid ransom, said they could not exactly say whether the government paid ransom to the bandits or not.

Governor Bello Matawalle while receiving the victims at the chamber of the Government House in Gusau, the state capital, said the victims were released without ransom.

The Zamfara State Governor further stated that the victims were released due to the peace and reconciliation process initiated by his administration.

He called on bandits in the state to embrace the current peace accord and reconciliation process which he initiated with the aim of restoring peace in the state.

Matawalle added that many prominent people in the state are involved in banditry activities, and this has affected the security structure of the state.

Recall that Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State on Monday sworn by the Holy Quran that he has no connection with bandits terrorising the state.

Speaking during an award event organised by the Centre for Quranic Reciter, Nigeria, on Sunday, Matawalle asked politicians in the state not to politicise the issue of insecurity.
