Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has accused the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, of planning to assassinate him.

Naija News reports that he stated this while speaking to State House correspondents after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking on Tuesday, Ortom said the leadership of MACBAN targeted him and were planning to eliminate him, adding that his lawyers would petition MACBAN’s leadership.

“My lawyer is going to make a petition against the leadership of MACBAN because they came out to target me and behind the scene, they are planning to eliminate me in my own land.

“If I can’t go to the farm as governor with entire security around me then who else can go to the farm? You can imagine the pains that we have here in Benue State,” Ortom stated

Recall that armed herdsmen attacked the governor’s convoy while on a visit to a farm on Saturday at Tyo Mu community along Makurdi-Gboko road.

While speaking with newsmen after the incident, Ortom narrated that the gunmen, numbering about 15, trailed him and his team to a riverbank when he was on foot before launching the attack.

However, a shadowy group, the Fulani Nationality Movement (FUNAM) has claimed responsibility for the attack on the Benue governor.
