Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani has reacted after the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) warned Nigerians against receiving fake COVID-19 vaccines.

The former lawmaker cried out that more information is needed on what NAFDAC said so as to ensure people are not being vaccinated with kerosine or ordinary sachet water.

His submission follows the warning by NAFDAC DG, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye who said Nigerians need to be wary of the type COVID-19 AstraZeneca Vaccine being administered on them.

Addressing the nation in a statement made available to newsmen, Prof. Adeyeye, said it became necessary for citizens to ensure that they are not being vaccinated with the fake version of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

According to her, the original Oxford Astrazeneca University vaccine had been contracted to India’s world largest vaccine manufacturer, Serum Institute of India (SIIPL), to produce in large quantity.

Sani described the warning as worrisome and advocated that more information be made available to the public so as to avoid a situation where people are getting the fake vaccine administered on them without their knowledge.

He wrote: “The alarm raised by NAFDAC on the circulation of fake Covid vaccine is worrisome. We need more info so that we don’t take in jabs of Kero or ‘pure’ water.”
