'You're Doing Well' - Miyetti Allah Hails Malami For Supporting Suit Against Southern Govs

Miyetti Allah, the umbrella body of Fulani Herdsmen, has insisted that none of their members attempted to assassinate Governor Samuel Ortom.

Naija News had reported that Ortom confirmed that he almost lost his life during an attack on Saturday by some gunmen he described as herdsmen.

The Governor who spoke with newsmen after the incident, narrated that the gunmen, numbering about 15, trailed him and his team to a riverbank when he was on foot before launching the attack.

Ortom’s convoy was attacked along Makurdi/Gboko road in Makurdi LGA of Benue but his security team repelled the attack and whisked the Governor to safety.

In a statement by the National Secretary of the herdsmen group, Alhassan Saleh, the group stated that Ortom was attacked by his supporters.

He said, “Herdsmen cannot attack him. There are even no herdsmen in Benue state because he has driven them away. He’s just behaving like a tout, and it’s unfortunate that such a person could become a governor.

“He trivialises everything. The attack is political; they are killing themselves there. There are killers around him; everybody knows.

“If nemesis would catch up with him for his atrocities against herders, it’s the killers that he is breeding, not herders that will finish him. We don’t have any hands in his matter.”

Miyetti Allah’s reaction is coming despite a group identified as the Fulani Nationality Movement, FUNAM, claimed responsibility for the attack on the Northern Governor.

The group had claimed that they attacked Ortom in an action carried out on behalf of millions of Fulani people in 15 countries.
