The death has been announced of a top staff of the Atiku media office Mr. Louis Okoroma who was during his lifetime, a veteran journalist and political analyst.

The death of Okoroma was confirmed in a statement signed and made available to Naija News by Atiku’s media aide, Mr. Paul Ibe.

The statement disclosed that Okoroma died two months after his wife also passed away.

He conveyed the condolence of Atiku Abubakar to the family of the deceased and prayed for God to comfort the family left behind.

“The death of Mr. Okoroma comes to us as a great shock and his passing will be felt for months and years to come because of his incalculable contributions to our office.

“Okoroma was not only a jovial fellow, but he was also a top-notch professional journalist that performed his job with passion and dedication”, Mr. Ibe noted.

“The late Okoroma was always beaming with smiles; he came to work on Wednesday and bid us farewell when he left for the day, but little did we know that was going to be our last encounter with him. The office is devastated by his sudden death and his immense contributions cannot be forgotten for years to come”, Ibe added sorrowfully.

“On behalf of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the entire staff of the Media Office, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, including his children. May God bring them comfort at this particularly challenging moment”, Ibe said.

A delegation led by Mr. Ibe, on Monday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Okoroma.

Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is facing a legal hurdle seeking to disqualify him from presenting himself as a candidate for the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.

A group, identified as the Incorporated Trustees of Egalitarian Mission for Africa has approached the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking an order to stop Atiku from contesting future presidential elections in Nigeria.

The group told the court that it is a non-governmental association registered in 13 African countries.

According to the plaintiff in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/177, Atiku is not a Nigerian by birth and therefore should not be eligible to become the President of the country.

They also joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the Attorney-General of the Federation as other defendants in the suit.
