Intrigue As Yari Set To Battle Uzor-Kalu, Umahi, Others For Senate Presidency

Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle of Zamfara State has been warned against politicising the security challenges in the state.

Speaking on the spate of insecurity in the state, former Zamfara State Governor, Abdul’aziz Yari, admonished the state government to work hand-in-hand with the federal government to deal with the issue of banditry among other criminal activities in the state.

Naija News understands that the former governor stated this while conversing with newsmen on Monday, March 15 in Talata Mafara, headquarters of Talata Mafara Local Government Area of the state.

Yari warned Gov. Matawalle to be careful while handling security matters in the state, adding that the governor needed to weigh deeply any advice given to him on how to tackle security challenges in the state.

He said: “Insecurity is a global issue, each country has its own peculiar security challenge, all that we need to do is to put hands together to ensure the safety of our people,” Yari said.

“We should avoid sentiments or politicising the matter affecting the lives of our people. We met with President Muhammad Buhari at the National Security Council meeting in Abuja last week.

“All of us at the meeting, irrespective of political differences resolved to work together with the federal government to ensure lasting peace not only in Zamfara but Nigeria in general.

Meanwhile, bandits have killed one person and abducted six others in an attack on Erena, a community in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger state, Naija News reports.
