His album African Giant, released in 2019, was the game-changer that shot him into limelight worldwide by getting him his first Grammy nomination, a victory at the MTV Europe Music Awards, and more than anything: a special mention in Barack Obama’s playlist.

His colleague and buddy Wizkid won the Best Music Video for his song with Beyoncé; Brown Skin Girl, from Lion King: The Gift album.

Wizkid got his first Grammy nomination in 2015 for a collaborative effort on American rapper, Drake’s album, Views, he, however, could not bring home the award.

This time, Wizkid’s collaboration with Beyonce and her daughter, Blue Ivy has now won him the biggest music award. The song Brown Skin Giel was made for Beyonce’s album, Lion King, in 2019. Wizkid will get the iconic Gramophone for his contribution to the hit track.
