The newly instituted Hajj Savings Scheme has been described as timely and reliable to serve the Muslim faithful going for pilgrims.

Speaking at the initiation and sensitisation of the scheme in Lafia, Nasarawa State capital on Thursday, March 11, the state governor, Abdullahi Sule commended the development, noting that it came at the right time the government is cutting off from sponsoring religious activities.

According to him, pilgrims’ funds with the news system is safe, reliable and free from any unforeseen temptation.

He also pointed out that the HSS would reduce the chances of redirecting the pilgrims’ funds for other activities outside hajj operations, adding that Muslims would now be better prepared at their convenience to perform Hajj which was one of the pillars of Islam.

Speaking also at the occasion, the Managing Director, Jaiz Bank Plc, Mallam Hassan Usman, said, “The bank is committed to this journey and we are ready to support it with best-in-class technology infrastructure as well as safe investment management practice.”

Represented by the acting Managing Director/Executive Director, Operations/Chief Finance Officer of the Bank, Abdulfattah Amoo, Usman said the scheme grows over time.

Meanwhile, the United States has asked visa applicants, who were denied because of former President Donald Trump’s travel ban on 13 mostly Muslim-majority and African countries, to seek new decisions or submit new applications, Naija News reports.
