Suspected gunmen have abducted students at the Federal College of Forestry Mechanism in the Mando area of Kaduna State.

According to the BBC, a witness said half of the female students were taken but not a single male was abducted.

The development was confirmed by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who disclosed that the investigation is ongoing.

The spokesperson of the state police command, ASP Mohammed Jalige said the exact number of students abducted is uncertain.

“They were abducted last night, we have no details of the number of students and I can’t say if they are all female,” ASP Jalige said in a phone conversation with Daily Trust.

He said the Police is working with the Nigerian Army to trace the kidnappers and rescue the students.

Recall that the Kaduna State Government has insisted that it would not negotiate with bandits in order to curb the persistent attacks in the state.

Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, made this known in an interview on Channels Television, monitored by Naija News.

Aruwan disclosed that the bandits from neighbouring states are behind the attacks in the state, hence there is no justification to negotiate with criminals who have nothing on the table.
