The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, on Tuesday reacted to the release of the members of the Oodua People’s Congress arrested by the Oyo State Police Command over Iskili Wakili.

The Oyo State police command on Sunday arrested Dauda Kazeem, Awodele Adedigba and Ramon Hassan for apprehending the alleged Fulani warlord.

However, a few hours after arresting Wakili in the Kajola area of Ibarapa North Local Government in the state, the Police arrested them for the alleged murder of an unidentified civilian.

Adams while reacting to the development condemned the police for treating members of the OPC like criminals, after helping them to nab Wakili.

Speaking on Tuesday, Adams, the OPC National Leader, described their freedom as good news.

“I thank all that raised their voices against the unjust detention, including well-meaning Nigerians, public opinion experts, socio-cultural groups, such as Afenifere, Yoruba Summit Group (YSG) and the media.”

“I want to assure Nigerians that the OPC will continue to support and complement the efforts of all security agencies, including the police in ensuring that the south-west is safe.”

Naija News had earlier reported that the Oyo State Police Command has released the three members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) arrested and detained over the arrest of suspected Fulani warlord, Iskilu Wakili.

Naija News reports that the OPC members named Dauda KazeemAwodele Adedigba, and Ramon Hassan were released on bail following the intervention of the state governor, Seyi Makinde, and the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams.
