Hunters Kill Boko Haram Commander In Borno

Three people have been killed and at least five others injured as bandits attack Ganji village in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Tuesday evening.

According to residents, the bandits stormed Ganji, a village close to Albasu, which was attacked last year, and set ablaze houses and a vehicle.

Speaking to Daily Trust, Lado Ibrahim said the bandits rode into the community on over 30 motorcycles and shot at residents before hitting them with the motorcycles.

He said five people have been taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds while a military helicopter has been hovering the area to scare the bandits away.

Another resident, Hamza Shafiu, said the attack on Ganji may be connected to the abduction of residents close to the community and the escape of one of the victims from Ganji village.

Meanwhile, the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) has confirmed the release of its operatives arrested by the Police after the group captured suspected Fulani warlord, Iskilu Wakili.

The OPC National Coordinator and Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land, Chief Gani Adams confirmed the release in a statement on Tuesday.

He noted that despite the unjust experience of his people in the hands of the police, the OPC will continue to collaborate with security operatives to arrest criminals in the southwest and ensure the region remains calm and peaceful.

It will be recalled as previously reported by Naija News that three members of OPC who were part of the team that captured Wakili on Sunday were arrested and taken into custody by the police for alleged murder and arson during the capture of the embattled warlord.

They were eventually released on Tuesday after much public outcry.
